Education Technician (Visitor Services)

The primary purpose of this position is to fulfill the requirements of both an Educational Technician and a Park Ranger, sharing the story of Cesar Chavez and the United Farm Workers of America movement. The purpose of the educational technician component of the position is to assist in executing Education and Community Outreach program activities. The purpose of the park ranger component of the position is to present a variety of interpretive programs and visitor services. All qualifications must be met by the closing date of this announcement-06/16/2020-unless otherwise stated in this vacancy announcement. Credit will be given for all appropriate qualifying experience. To receive credit for experience, your resume MUST clearly indicate the nature of the duties and responsibilities for each position, starting and ending dates of employment (month/year), and the resume must reflect either full-time or 40 hours per week. If a part-time work schedule is reflected, the hours must be annotated to ensure proper crediting of specialized experience. To qualify for this position at the GS-05 grade level, you must possess at least one of the following minimum qualifications by close of the announcement:
Experience:
At least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-04 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). This experience includes activities such as:
presenting environmental educational programs to varied groups of individuals; experience as a Teacher, Outdoor Educator, Interpretive Park Ranger, or Park Guide. You must include hours per week worked on your resume. -OR- EDUCATION:
Successful completion of at least 4-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree. Education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. One year of full-time academic study is defined as 30 semester hours, 45 quarter hours, or the equivalent in a college or university, or at least 20 hours of classroom instruction per week for approximately 36 weeks in a business, secretarial, or technical school. If you are using education to qualify, you must submit a copy of your transcripts. -OR- Successful completion of a combination of GS-04 level specialized experience in education or interpretation and some advanced college level education (above the first 60 semester hours in credible for the GS-05). To compute qualification requirement, first determine your total qualifying experience as a percentage of the experience required; then determine your total qualifying education as a percentage of the education required. Add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal to at least 100 percent to qualify. IMPORTANT - PLEASE NOTE:

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
